Notting Hill Combined Probus – Merimbula trip

All our members had a fabulous trip to Merimbula. Bernard (our driver) was great and we could not have had a better driver. He was so helpful and considerate at all times. Our accommodation was adequate and the Manager and his wife looked after us all very well indeed.

Thank you for all your assistance and understanding.

Trip experience review

Well- what a fantastic time was had by all 31 of us as we headed out on our adventure with Bernard the bus driver. Brain teasers, quizzes, talk and laughter filled the time in beautifully and very soon we had arrived.

Next day it was off to the Bega cheese factory- utterly fascinating and then to Cobargo- a quaint historic town. More history was almost made when the bus drove off leaving Pam Cassell behind. However 100 yards down the road her trusty knight in shining armour, Milton, realised, stopped the bus and sent someone to rescue her. A short, tense moment followed.

Bermagui was magnificent for lunch overlooking the water and then it was on to Tathra.

Next day , ( pristine again) wasting no time it was off to the Whale museum in Eden then on to the Wheelers oyster farm for a fascinating talk, demonstration and tasting.

The truth was out- not one of them worked!

That night followed a magical tribute to Ron for his birthday with crooners Harry and Gerry, and the dancing Probus Pompadours Freyer, Kay and Trish with a Marilyn Monroe rendition of Happy Birthday.

Last day before heading home we were off to the first historic home in Pambula. Our motel host Malcolm owned it and gave us the full history. Talking of Malcolm and wife Dara- nothing was too much trouble.

Breakfasts and dinners with 2nds,and 3rds if you wanted it. Excellent food and all inclusive.

A beautiful walk along the Pambula river to meet the ocean brought back fond memories for many of us. Finally that afternoon we enjoyed the ambiance of Merimbula with a walk along the boardwalk and a wander of the town/ shops.

Congratulations!!! We can’t tell you how much we appreciated your efforts and thank you for the fabulous time we all had!!
