Day 01 (D): To Victor Harbor

Welcome to our 5-day tour to Kangaroo Island. Today is a travel day only, so sit back and enjoy the facilities aboard our 5-star luxury Touring Coach as we express along the Western Freeway past Ballarat, Ararat and Horsham into South Australia. After crossing the border into South Australia, we travel through Bordertown and onto Tailem Bend.

From here we head south onto the Fleurieu Peninsula and onto Victor Harbor. The town was originally a whaling centre with three whaling stations in the mid-1900s. Following check in we have some free time then enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 02 (BD): Kangaroo Island

After an early breakfast we go to Cape Jervis, where we transfer to Kangaroo Island, via the luxury Honey Farm on the 9am service. It’s only a 45-minute sailing across Backstairs Passage to Penneshaw on the eastern end of Kangaroo Island. On arrival we reboard our coach to begin todays touring.

During our time here we will visit a couple of unique Kangaroo Island ventures – the first one is a Honey Farm followed by the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery. We then visit Kingscote, the island’s main town where we have lunch (own expense) and some time for sightseeing or souvenir shopping.

This afternoon we will be stopping at Cygnet River and South Australia’s first Sheep Milking Dairy and Cheese Factory Island Pure. Depending on the farm schedule we may see the sheep milking under way, otherwise a detailed video presentation will explain the operations followed by an opportunity to sample the various products. Late afternoon we return to Kingscote and check in to our hotel.

Day 03 (BLD): EXPLORING KANGAROO ISLAND

There are two major wildlife areas we have planned to visit today – Seal Bay and the Flinders Chase National Park and a local guide will be with us for the entire day. At the famous Seal Bay we can take a walk on the beach amongst the colony of Australian Sea Lions who live here all year round. It is an unforgettable experience to be guided by a National Parks Ranger, along the beach, within metres of the bulls, cows and sea pups as they rest on the beach. Next stop is Raptor Domain, where we see a free-flight birds of prey demonstration with a difference. Audience participation is encouraged!

This afternoon we visit the Flinders Chase National Park, Remarkable Rocks, Cape du Couedic and Admirals Arch, where, via a spectacular board walk, we can see close up a colony of New Zealand Fur Seals who live in the sea and the rocks just below us. At Rocky River we should see plenty of Cape Barren Geese and maybe a Tamar Wallaby or two.

Day 04 (BD): VICTOR HARBOR & GOOLWA

After breakfast we re-join the coach for the transfer to Penneshaw to connect with the early Sealink Ferry service from Penneshaw to Cape Jervis. We return to Victor Harbor and have some free time for lunch before driving across to Goolwa where we enjoy an afternoon cruise to the Mouth of the Murray River. It’s a fascinating trip that takes us downstream through the lock in the Goolwa Barrage and onto the mouth of the Murray River for a guided walk. We then return to Victor Harbor for our final night stay of the tour.
